At Road America, round 6 of R4-GTO|Minho Média Championship, André Melo got a solid fourth place, winning some more important points for the championship. Pedro Costa was once again unlucky, and had to retire after another unfortunate accident caused by other driver. Miguel Lopes took the third place in the GT2 class with his GhostSpeed Porsche, right ahead of Tiago Nunes, who managed to make a very good race after a bad start. At the end of this race, the team reforced the first spot on Gt2 Championship, and got some more points on GT1 being currently on third place.
Pedro Costa:
“Someone knocked me out I lost a lot of time on the gravel and completly destroyed my racing motivation so after a slight spin on the next lap i was forced to retire.”
André Melo:
“Well it was a consistent race with no mistakes, althought the tires were not my best choice, they gave a good performance given the changes in the weather.
Some points for me and some for the team, that is what this is all about .”
Miguel Lopes:
“Third place on qual, with a bad choice of tires, that didnt allowed more than this. On the race, I started to go for the wrong tires, which messed up my first part of the race. After the refill, with the right tires, I decided to try to maintain the third place, since the first and second racers were already far ahead.”
Tiago Nunes:
“On qualify, i couldnt do a swift lap, so I started on the end of the grid.
On the way to the race, I chose for rain tires, with the idea that would rain a lot at the start, which turned out to be wrong making me stop on the box at the beginning for slicks tires. From that point, I managed to be one of the fastest on track achieving third place.
However, due to the early stop, a second one was mandatory to refill and new tires. So, eventually lost the third spot to Miguel, finishing in fourth place in a race that I consider to have done pretty well given all odds.”
