In qualification tough, everything went smooth, as André Melo almost clinched pole position and Miguel was 6th. Everything seemed in place for a good ride in the historical British track. Things would change soon, as in the very first lap, and in a repetition of Fuji, Andre would be punted off track, and see his chances smoke up. A sad and unfortunate situation for one of the fastest drivers in this round, that could do nothing more than trying to get back as many positions as possible. 6th would be his final race position, which is not what he would have deserved. Miguel on his side, would do a comfortable race, and with no major events or incidents, he battled out all race against Morabia and Vitamina drivers to get in the end, a position close to the podium, the 4th one. It was his best of the current season.
In the GT2 field, Both Tiago and Vitor were far from the front positions, but they had a very tough and challenging race. Tiago Nunes would see his race ruined already in the race grid formation, as a small mistake made him get – even before everyone moved – a Drive Trough penalty. When everyone was battling out for the initial positions, he had to stop and just try to recover from then on. He would get some points tough, and keep this way his championship position. 7th place, behind his team partner, would be his final position. A good effort regarding conditions he faced. Vitor had a calm race, and if discounted an encounter with a GT1 car, he raced almost alone throughout the 2 hour event. Fighting for a position in the early race phase with one of Playteam cars, and holding up his 6th place from closest pursuers in the last stint of the race were his main challenges. With this result was also his best of the championship. The GT2 team keeps up his 3rd place in the standings table.
Next race will be a 4h special event at the known Daytona Raoad Course on the 1st of March.
