In GT1, Miguel and André would be the team duo, and it would be this last one to the the pole position, It was the first one for André in the current season and the first one racing for GhostSpeed. Miguel Would not be too far, starting right behind. Race start would be everything but nice for André tough, as two spins in the first lap and an incident would put him back on the grid. That wouldn’t stop him tough, as he – despite the random weather conditions – fought back and would finish 6th. A decent finish regarding is race conditions. Miguel would have a tough job too, and like André, he would start high but race incidents plus rain would put him a little behind in the first laps. Being known for his regularity tough, he would climb up some places back and almost doing the fastest lap of the race. In the end, on one of his favorite tracks, Miguel climbed to the podium for the first time this season, one what is like said before, the first overall one for GhostSpeed Racing Team.
On the GT2 camp, things would also be easy, but despite almost getting into the podium, the team got his best overall best result of the season, getting back into position of fighting for P3 in the teams classification. Tiago Nunes would be the team best placed driver in qualification and race, by getting position 4 in both. Despite a bad qualification, Vitor would get and do his best race of the season by finishing in top 5 right behind Tiago. The race start would be favorable to Vitor that was one of the few drivers to start with full dry tires, but that wouldn’t last for long as for the rest of the race, pit strategy would be all wrong. In the end, four pit stops (two more than needed) would dictate a final position 5 for Vitor. Tiago did a more conservative race start as he started with intermediate tires, which would slow and make him loose time to the front runners in the first part of the race while rain didn’t showed up. In the end, while not perfect, his consistency and pit stop strategy, would be regular enough to guarantee him position 4, not that far from the podium.
Not a perfect race, but considering adverse and unpredictable weather conditions the Hockenheim round could be considered the best one for the team this season. Next round the pack will travel to the hot Dubai race track on the 9th of April.
