Although João Barbosa was the team’s best driver, his engine would let him down, and made the driver from Porto withdraw from race. Rickard would be the best placed driver with P6 at the end of the race, while Emre would be a little further back in P12. Both would score points.
GhostSpeed wants now to maintain at least until the end of the season, a strong presence at the Ace series, even tough there’s not much to fight about at this season stage.
On the World Championship, the scenario would be similar. Stephane Rouault and Blair Disley were once more the ones at the wheel. They would not disappoint, and at the ultra competitive WC field, both would bring their cars to the end, with Rouault taking the final points position. Disley finished at the most frustrating position, P9. Nevertheless, it’s the 6th race finish in a row to the Australian driver.
João Barbosa (PT) dnf, World Series Ace Race comments:
"Well starting qualify I decided to go with more fuel than normal for a two pit stop strategy because I knew I had a 10 grid penalty. I could reach to the 2 qualify and make the 6 position. At the start I was able to pass some guys and then stay behind Kaag and try to keep him close but he was faster then me. I had a lot of difficult to get pass the backmarkers today. The second stint was similar to the first one I was running now behind Chris and we run in a pretty similar times, but I was pitting after him so in the second pit stop I went out of the pit just in front of Chris and need to defend of his attack because is tyres were in temp, probably I was a little to aggressive in defend…sorry chris. I maintain my 4 place in front of Chris but my engine started to go away and I was losing at about 20 km in the straight, I try to defend to Chris but there was no possibility to do it. One lap after that my engine blew.
Really sorry about it because i could do a great position. Hope next race goes better"
Stephane Rouault (NL) 8th, World Championship Race comments:
"Qualiify was horrific. I had a good free practice before qualify, ended up 6th, close to top 3. But then in qualify, I made mistakes on both laps. Which caused that I had to start from 12th position. To be honest, I didn’t know what to think after this race. The whole race, I sat behind the top7, and I just couldn’t get any closer. I looked at my laptimes, and they were shockingly slow, compared to my practice pace. On the other hand, I could still be consistent, so I just tried to still do the best I could throughout the race. I made no big mistakes, and my pitstops both went really smoothly. In the end, I was trying to catch up with Yannick, but again couldn’t do good laptimes for some reason. So I just decided to make sure I'd get 8th place. I waited for Blair to pit. He ran a really long 2nd stint. Then he came out, like two seconds behind me. With low fuel and fresh tyres. But I knew it was gonna be hard to overtake, If I didn’t make any mistakes on strategic points on the track. So I just drove the car home, and collected the point."
GhostSpeed has already packed to China where round 15 of the Formula SimRacing Championship will take place.
