Filipe Santos Champion at FRC-F1

Filipe Santos, aka Lo Santinho, has been crowned champion at the 2008 Formula Racing Challenge F1 league, and is the third GhostSpeed driver to do it. This happens for the third year in a rwo, and he is the youngest to do it. Three years after joining the team he started the year as the league main contender and didn’t disapointed. A less fullfilled mid season part, didn’t hurt his bid on the title, as in 14 races, he finished no less than 11 times in the podium. Of those 6 were wins. Congatularions!

 

The young Portuguese driver started the season with a win, and from there on, would be several times in the podium. It would be just in the fifth round, after his win at Barcelona for the fourth round, that he would finish outside the podium at Istambul. A missed race at the Monaco Grand Prix could mean a worse performance, but on the next races he would bounce back. On the Canadian, French, British, German and Hungarian Grand Prix, he would get podiums on all of them, and clinch a win at Silverstone and at the Hockenheim. This was most probably the founding ground point, as from there on, is advantage was big and out of the reach for everybody else.

On the last part of the year, two race diconnections and one not raced, would bring some hope to his main rivals, but once again, Filipe would be back, and with another streak of good results, he sealed his Championship.

On the two Japanese rounds of the 2008 season, Filipe would win the Suzuka Asian race, and at the Fuji Speedway, for the Japanese Grand Prix, a 2nd position finihs would be more thanh enough to make it official. Congratulations Champion!
