The fourth round of the SSCA 2008 Endurance Challenge has been disputed, and for the first time, GhostSpeed Racing Team as lost a race on track. But not everything was bad or lost, as despite no wins in both classes, the overall championships status were improved for the team. Clearly a case of better results than performance. In LMP Bruno line up alongside Andras Kiraly, as in GT1 Rickard Hellsten partnered Samuel Libeert.
This would be a hard race for the team, as a short preparation period for the drivers associated with the shortest race lenght of the year, would lead a complicated situation fot the team. In an Endurance race more similar to a sprint race, every error counts and the team had a very hard fought race right up untill the last lap.
The racers to start in both classes would be Bruno and Rickard, and both despite not getting pole, would fight for the top positions in the first stint. Mr. Marquez would start 4th as Rickard would start in a good P2 spot.
As in Sebring, Bruno would get some laps to get into the pace, but he soon would aproach to the top positions, and even lead briefly the race, to deliver afteerwards the car to Andras Kiraly. Most of the team race would be close to the top of the race, but not close enough, and it would be in the end that the highlight of the race would happen. Andras was the man in charge, and in the last laps he would fight directly with the RC Motorsports car. Eventualy second place would be the place to finish for the team.
Despite the race final result, the aftermath was good for GhostSpeed, as by finishing two places ahead of Swedish American Racers, the team increased the championship lead. Although not very big, GhostSpeed have now a four points finish over position two team.
In the GT class, things would be similar with the points situation being better than the final result itself.
As said, Rickard would do a good qualification by getting P2, and in a initial part of the race he would chase the lead. Things would get worse after the GT car got damaged, and a consequent long pitstop would put an end on teams hopes for a GT best finish of the year. After delivering the Car to Samuel Libeert, the team would loose a couple of positions to end up in P7, which wasn't bad at end as GhostSpeed cutted by half it's distance to class leader, that got a dnf at Silverstone.
The Team is now focused in next race, where it hopes to get back to the top podium positions. The race will be the 10 hours of Fuji.
